Nurturing Gratitude in Children
Research increasingly points to the positive effects of gratitude on our overall well-being. Studies show it benefits both our physical and emotional health, and this includes children too. The good news is, we can easily integrate gratitude into our daily lives without adding to our already busy schedules.
Simple Ways to Nurture Gratitude in Children
1. Focus on what went “right” each day
2. Don’t save conversations about gratitude for Thanksgiving.
3. Promote sincere verbal or written expressions of thankfulness.
4. Find ways to help others in need.
5. Be a role model.
At Miss Amy’s Neighborhood Preschool, we focus on helping children build emotional resilience, develop strong social connections, and experience greater happiness.
Action Step: Ask your child, "What was the best part of your day?" and share your own. You'll be surprised at how this small habit can create meaningful moments.
