About Us
Miss Amy’s Neighborhood Preschool is a preschool center located in downtown Frederick, Colorado. Our staff has a diverse background of Early Childhood Educational experience that offers a rich and meaningful opportunity for children to grow and learn through hands on learning.
Play allows for differentiation. Each child will get what they need at the time they need it. Preschool is for pursuing each child’s own interests at their individual pace.
Preparing them for a bigger world of Kindergarten and future academic schooling which includes friendships and society, exploring emotions and discovering power of self in the community. Play is important for us to thrive; it is fertilizer for the brain.
Being in a small community allows for the daily interactions with neighbors and a connection to the diverse offering of the area’s past, present, and future development. The children will take walking field trips around town to meet and build on relationships with community members and businesses.
What We Do
We believe that play is the foundation for learning. At Miss Amy’s, children are given the freedom to explore, create, and imagine while developing essential skills for school and life. Through open-ended, hands-on experiences, we foster creativity, independence, and problem-solving—because when children play, they’re doing important work.
Curriculum
Our play-based curriculum supports the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
Each day includes opportunities for language and literacy, early math and science, social-emotional learning, art, music, and movement.
Rather than direct instruction, we guide and support children through discovery, conversation, and joyful exploration, allowing them to learn in ways that are meaningful to them.
Daily Schedule
Our daily rhythm helps children feel safe, seen, and supported while also allowing space for creativity and independence. A typical day includes:
Warm, individual greetings and connection with parents
Group time with songs, stories, and conversations
Child-led play and exploration
Storytime and snack
Outdoor learning and play
Closing routine to help transition home
Our Outdoor Space
Our outside classroom provides opportunities for fresh air, large motor movement, and interacting with different materials. Outside children can practice and master emerging large motor skills such as running, leaping, jumping and balancing.
Children build their social emotional and cognitive skills outdoors through games and activities. Communication skills and vocabulary. Number relation- score keeping and counting. Social customs- cooperation and playing together in a game. Children who play outside are happier, healthier and stronger.
Universal Pre-K
We proudly participate in Colorado’s Universal Preschool (UPK) Program, which helps ensure all children have access to early learning experiences before kindergarten.
